Program for System Admission

Students who completed a freshman application for the fall semester with the Office of Admissions at Texas A&M University in College Station (TAMU) by December 1 and were denied admission may be offered an opportunity to participate in the (PSA). This alternative program allows students to enroll in one of the Texas A&M University System Institutions that participate in PSA with the goal of returning to Texas A&M University in College Station after successful completion of their first year in college.

Eligibility

  • Students must have a complete freshman application for the fall semester on file with the Office of Admissions at Texas A&M University in College Station by December 1.
  • Students must meet the minimum requirements for admission to the Texas A&M System Institution they wish to attend.
  • Students must respond to the PSA offer via the Applicant Information System (AIS) by May 1. The priority deadline to accept your PSA offer is March 15.

To qualify for automatic admission via the PSA, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Choose and complete specific course requirements from one of the approved TAMU program-specific degree plans
  • Complete at least 24 transferable hours in residence at a single System Institution during the fall and spring semesters
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPR at the System Institution AND maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPR on all transferable coursework (including dual credit taken during high school). NOTE: Engineering applicants must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA at that school AND a minimum 3.0 GPA on all other transferable coursework (including dual credit taken during high school) to guarantee admission
  • Submit all required credentials by the published deadline
  • Please note that you do not need to apply directly to 糖心logo入口. Your application materials will be forwarded to us from TAMU when you select the PSA program.

It is recommended that developmental course(s) and/or prerequisite course(s) be taken prior to fall enrollment. Example: Some institutions require College Algebra before enrolling in higher level math courses.

What if the major I want is not an option in the PSA program?
The PSA was designed for students who are interested in a participating major. We never recommend using the PSA to be admitted to TAMU with the intention of switching to the major you really want. We recommend taking the coursework and making the grades for your intended major and then applying as a standard transfer student directly to your intended major. You can still attend a System Institution (or any other institution), but you will have to apply as a regular transfer and go through a competitive review process.

What if the System Institution doesn't have my intended major?
The major choice at the System Institution does not matter. All that matters is that the System Institution will allow you to take the courses you need for your intended PSA major at TAMU.

Can I start taking courses at the System Institution during the summer?
Yes, as long as you get everything set up with your System Institution. However, the PSA requires students to complete two long semesters at the System Institution to be eligible for automatic admission. Taking summer courses is also very important if you will need to complete any prerequisite courses (i.e., Math). Please contact the Office of Admission at Texas A&M-Kingsville if you plan to start during the summer.

Credit by examination cannot be used to satisfy a bolded italicized course. Bolded italicized courses must be taken for a grade, either at the system school or via dual credit in high school. Credit by examination can be used to satisfy coursework from the lower box on any degree plan. However, those hours will not count toward the 24-hour residence requirement.
